This is ‘the original’ Union Jack cushion, designed and hand embroidered by Jan in 2006. As such, it was a milestone in Jan’s business and has since become a beloved British classic.
The Union Jack cushion became a bestseller in the collection for many years, combining a patriotic British theme with a cool appreciation of 1960s Pop Art style. The cushion is handmade using traditional embroidery skills upon a vintage shade of grey wool. It is layered with cream and red wool felt strips, worked with red cross stitch to form the Union Jack flag design, adorned with the red heart in the centre, to add the ‘Love’, using full artistic licence. The Union Jack cushion is finished with cream blanket stitch around the central red heart and on the edges of the cushion.
