It is inspired by St Edward’s Crown which was created for the coronation of King Charles II in 1661 and is the centrepiece of the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom. This is the crown that will be used to crown King Charles III during his Coronation Ceremony on 6th May 2023. The detail on the crown is quite exquisite from the base right up to the cross at the top and the jewels are all depicted by appliqué and tiny cream French knots, satin stitch and chain stitch. This high quality crown cushion is finished with red blanket stitch around the edges and it fastens on the back with two mother of pearl buttons.
