The beautiful black and cream Jan Constantine Willow Pattern Cashmere Cardigan is inspired by the traditional English Willow Pattern design, usually printed in blue upon white china, that was popular in the 18th century and is still loved today. This striking and elaborate design is appliquéd in cream felt wool onto black and hand embroidered with an wide variety of stitches, creating the full Willow Pattern story upon both the back and front of the cardigan. The cuffs of the three quarter sleeves are adorned with flying love birds from the design.

Each cardigan is made to order and will be delivered gift boxed with its own little lavender filled heart (to deter moths), within 28 days.

The cardigans fit neatly and are currently available in sizes: small (10), medium (12), and large (14).

Cardigan in pure cashmere.

Lining in black fine pure silk.

I purchased the willow pattern cardigan, there was a few weeks wait as explained on the site, the items are made to order, however customer service was great and kept me informed by email and phone calls regarding progress and delivery, I even changed the day of my delivery very easily on line to make sure I was at home when it arrived.

The packaging was lovely, a tissue wrapped, beribboned box, with a hand written card, and a beautiful heart shaped, embroidered lavender bag, the cardigan is gorgeously scented, and I am now thinking my entire knitwear cupboard really ought to smell like that!

I can hear you thinking that for the price that is as it should be, but on to the cardigan itself.... I have a number of cashmere cardigans from various sources already, and although I haven't worn my new one enough to thoroughly check for pilling, the quality of the wool and manufacture is very good, it is beautifully lined with matching silk, which of course covers the back of the hand embellishment, and pearl buttons.

The applique and embroidery is perfection. Every stitch executed with great skill, and I love the applique pieces, made from soft woven cream wool, which remind me of those beautiful old woven blankets. Incredibly the cardigan retains a little give, even underneath such coverage of decoration. It will turn a plain LBD into a fabulous evening outfit, or give jeans for evening a real wow factor.

The cardigan is quite fitted, and I would imagine the silk lining protects, to an extent, any damage stretching the garment might cause with wear. It is snug when buttoned up, if you like a looser fit I would suggest you size up.
